I cannot with any integrity seek to give a discourse or offer any intelligible thoughts about the abortion crisis in our nation. It numbs me. It crushes my soul in grief and if I am honest more often than not I choose not to think about it. I’d rather not think about those little beating hearts. I’d rather not think about the mothers who are driven in despair and loneliness to even consider an abortion. And I certainly cannot bear to think about those who are profiting financially and gloating in arrogance under the guise of defending “women’s rights”…it makes my blood boil. For these reasons, I have chosen to simply pray believing that keeping my heart open to God and to people is what will make a difference. I wish I had more to say. I’m ashamed I have not spent more time in prayer over this issue. But in spite of all of that, I know that God hears my voice. And he hears your voice. Below is a short prayer I prayed this week that is neither eloquent nor strong but it is honest. I hope it encourages you to pray. To keep your heart open and to allow his affections to become our own.

God, how do I respond to the recent law change in New York which made provision for late-term abortions under certain circumstances? How do I respond to the widespread embrace of abortion in our nation? I'm grieved. I'm at a loss for words. There are over 3,000 babies aborted every day in the United States alone and the pain of this thought is numbing. I can't bear to think about these precious little dreams of yours who never made it to the light of day. Their life was your dream that never came true. Father, let me not grow callous to what is happening in our nation. Allow my heart to feel the pain that you feel over each baby that is aborted. I don't even know what to pray but have mercy on us, God! I join the prayers that have been prayed for years over this nation, “Jesus, I plead your blood over my sins and the sins of my nation. God, end abortion and send revival to America.”

My Prayer

My friends Phil King and Cody Lee wrote this song on behalf of the millions of aborted babies…may it echo across our nation in this hour.
